I first met with Gillian and David in April 2016 after a referral from Hampshire Court Hotel - one of my favourite venues and one which I am a preferred supplier at. We discussed various wedding packages and booked in a package which included a pre-wedding photo shoot that took place at Old Basing Barn and Barton's Mill. Time then flew by and it was suddenly their big day - 18th March 2017!
Gillian was getting ready at the venue in the Bridal Suite along with her beautiful bridesmaids and the couple's mothers whilst David was on the other side of the hotel with his groomsmen, best man and father. Because the hotel is so well laid out, I was able to capture some bridal prep, then pop down to see David's final suit preparations before returning back to Gillian for make-up and the dress to be tied. Doing hair and make up for this wedding were the amazing team at CJ Beauty & Co / Colette Johnson.
Gillian's dress was absolutely stunning and came from Elderberry Brides in Basingstoke. David and the groomsmen's suits were hired from Debenhams, which is also where the flower girl outfits were from. The gorgeous bridesmaid dresses were from Quiz. Bouquets and buttonholes were by The Brides Bouquet UK.
The ceremony was absolutely beautiful. The flower girls scattered petals down the aisle and were followed by the bridesmaids, Gillian's Mother and Sister and then Gillian. The ceremony was conducted by Registrars from Basingstoke Register Office (Goldings). Gillian's ring was from H.Samuel and David's ring was from Browns Jewellers, Centurion, South Africa. During the ceremony there was a reading and after the register had been signed, guests waved streamers as Mr & Mrs Pistorius exited the ceremony room as husband and wife. This was a lovely touch (and so unique as well)!
We conducted our group portraits outside and wandered around for some newlywed portraits to the shelter and bridge areas of the courtyard, where we also returned later in the evening for some night-time portraits. Guests were seated for their wedding breakfast and the speeches took place between courses. I have to say, the speeches are one of my favourite parts of a wedding as they tend to capture all the emotions of the day within a short period of time. Decor for today was arranged by the wonderful Events For U.
After the wedding breakfast and speeches, I had a studio photo booth ready for the couple and guests to have photographs taken in whilst awaiting the turnaround of the rooms for the evening reception. Photo booths are a lot of fun! I provide a backdrop and props and the guests create the fun memories and laughs!
When the evening was underway, the amazing cake (and cupcakes) were displayed in the corner ready to be cut. The cake was made by Ronel Klopfer-Prevett of Fancy That Cake Company. After our cake-cutting portraits were complete, we got to the dancing! I set up a few off-camera flashes on either side of the DJ booth and snapped away whilst the first dance took place and then the rest of the guests joined in and then danced the night away.
Gillian and David; I thoroughly enjoyed photographing your special day and I very much look forward to creating a photo book with all your memories in and working with you again in the future. All the very best to you as you start your new (married) life together.
