It's Saturday 2nd September 2017, the sun is shining and I'm arriving at the grandest registry office I think we have in the local area: Shaw House in Newbury. It is a Grade I listed building, built in 1581 which was later used temporarily as a school (St. Gabriel's School in 1945 which has now located to South of Newbury, where my husband now works). It was taken over by the council and officially reopened in 2006 to the general public after restoration. There are large, open areas all around the building which means that even though it's busy register office, there's always somewhere to take photographs after the ceremony (in good weather of course, though the trees can provide much needed shelter if it starts to rain!).
Dawn arrived extremely early (she was there before David!) so we were able to take some bridal portraits before the ceremony - something I don't often get to do but on this occasion it worked very well for us! David arrived with his little boys all dressed in their Slaters suits. Dawn's dress came from The Bridal Centre in Farnborough. Bridesmaids dresses were from Dorothy Perkins. The car which Dawn arrived in (and the same one which took the newlyweds for their family meal after the ceremony) was provided by Christopher's Classic Cars.
During the ceremony, both Dawn and her daughter did readings - I must admit, even I got emotional during these readings as they were so lovely and person to the family, who I've known a few years now (both myself and my husband used to work with Dawn). What an absolutely beautiful ceremony! Afterwards the guests greeted Mr & Mrs Taylor with confetti and we were able to conduct photographs in the gardens while the sun shone down on us.
The couple and their family went for a private meal and I then met them later on at Tongham Community Centre for their evening reception. The room was decorated absolutely beautifully and there were fairy lights and drapes hung from the ceiling. If I had to recommend a community centre for a reception, this would be top of my list. The staff are very accommodating and friendly and the venue is lovely and clean.
The absolutely stunning cake was created by Bebelle's Bespoke Cakes - a friend of the bride's. I was kindly offered some cake and I must say, it was the best wedding cake I think I've ever tasted (and I've tried a LOT of wedding cake!!). Top marks to this company! DJ tonight was the couple's boss, Andy White. After the first dance I ran a photo booth for the evening. Always great fun to do!
Dawn and David - thank you for having me document your amazing day! All the best for the future ahead!
