Firstly a big "hello" to you reading this blog! Welcome to my website and I hope you enjoy having a look around!
This is my first blog in a while. Juggling the business and a new baby has been challenging but extremely rewarding. My blog has been neglected but as the Summer months wind down and we enter Autumn, I have a moment now to reflect on what has been happening this year.
My son was born in January so I took a few months off to be with my little boy and rest after an emergency c-section. My weddings started back up again in April.
My first wedding of the year was at Audley's Wood Hotel in Basingstoke - a venue I had been wanting to work at for some time and my word, it was beautiful! The food was also very lovely and the staff were excellent with informing me of the timings of certain events. The inside and outside of Audley's Wood are just perfect for photographs. There are so many places to go - with the large green area at the back to the architecture of the front of the building and beautiful wooden fireplaces, staircases, beams and stained glass windows inside.
I then headed up towards Newbury (not on the same day of course!) to a little church near Kingsclere called Ashford Hill Church. This was another place I'd not worked before. There was plenty of outside space for photographs so the large group photographs were easy to capture here! My next wedding was at St. Mary's Church, Overton. The couple who wed here were previous clients of mine who had come for a Family Photo Day some time before. Their ceremony was lovely with musicians and children playing. They also had a fantastic wedding car (or VW Campervan!) so this provided for some fun photographs as the couple departed.
The end of June saw me working at one of my favourite hotels again - Hampshire Court Hotel. This hotel always looks after its guests well, the food is always wonderful and the drinks are very reasonably priced. There is also a lovely little café on site where I can go for my breaks unless I'm needed close-by, then I'll stay in the bar near the wedding rooms. I couldn't recommend this hotel enough. The courtyard is always very well kept with lots of little areas for photographs and guests to mingle. It's easy enough to capture a large group picture from one of the upstairs rooms or windows and if the weather isn't perfect, there's a covered area right in the centre. I went with the couple to check out the honeymoon suite and we capture such a fun image of them reclining and reading magazines (see the main picture on this blog). I was back at Hampshire Court Hotel later in July too.
In July, I went back to Pine Ridge Golf Club in Heatherside (near Frimley/Camberley) and the Baronial Hall did not disappoint, yet again. Always helpful staff here and it's a very 'moody' venue for creative images during and after the wedding ceremony. The hall is elaborate and like something out of a movie about Knights and Princesses. The fireplace always adds a beautiful warmth and glow to the hall (along with the suit of armour!). The weekend after, I head to Warbrook House - another venue on my 'wish list'! What an amazing building and the grounds outside? Perfect! The wedding I was photographing was in the marquee and the building to the left of the main hotel which, architecturally, is very pleasing to the eye! We took some group photographs outside the building after the ceremony and after the couple had a drink and a mingle, we were driven in a golf buggy to the end of the lake. Such a beautiful backdrop. We also had plenty of outdoor space for photographs, including the large and very old tree outside the front of the hotel. Also in this month I shot a last minute wedding at Winchester Register Office for a lovely couple who were surrounded by their friends and family.
August came and suddenly I realised just how busy I'd been, not just with weddings but photo shoot and photo booth bookings. I did a shoot at Micheldever Woods for a family who won their photo shoot at a raffle for Deepcut Corps Day. Also in this month, I worked at Aldershot and Basingstoke Register Office again (I got married, myself at the latter, and this was also a very intimate wedding with just five people in total) and I also had a wedding at St. Michael's Church, Basingstoke, followed by a reception at Dummer Golf Club. When we had a moment at the Golf Club, I took the bride and groom across the road to some open fields for some stunning shots. A photo booth was also provided at the wedding reception for a lovely couple in Slough - the reception was at Sharky's.
So that brings me up to this month, September, my birthday month! This month I've photographed and provided a photo booth at the Casino Royal Charity Ball in aid of the Maxillo Facial Unit at The Royal Surrey Hospital. What an amazing event! I do hope lots of money was made for the charity and the photographs for this plus the booth will be online soon. Also earlier in the month, I was with a bride for her preparation and then at the wedding ceremony at St. Michael's Church, Camberley followed by a reception at The Casa Hotel in Yateley. Again, another amazing hotel. Always happy to help and good with informing me of the timings of certain events. Also some lovely outdoor and indoor spaces for photographs. So what is left in store for this year? Well, I have some maternity shoots, hopefully some newborn shoots soon (some friends are having babies!) and lots of consultations. A few more weddings (Pine Ridge Golf Club again, Alton Register Office, Basingstoke Register Office again and also St. Peter's Church in Tadley followed by a reception at The Old Mill in Aldermaston. I visited The Old Mill to meet the couple who booked my Winter Offer. I cannot WAIT for this wedding - the reception venue is amazing and I understand there will be fireworks!!
So this was an extremely long blog, thank you if you read down to here. I didn't do as many weddings as last year (due to having a baby) but next year is already booking up nicely and I'll be at the Shaw House Wedding Fayre on Sunday 11th October 2015 to hopefully book in some more couples for 2016-17. Do pop along and say hello!
